Delta State Governor Signs 2026 Bud get and KeyLaws to Boost Development and Security
As Delta State charts a new course for growth, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori today signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, outlining the government’s plans for infrastructure, education, security, and social welfare over the next year. Describing the budget as more than just numbers, Governor Oborevwori said it serves as a roadmap for tangible action and deliverables, with a focus on disciplined governance and sustained revenue growth without imposing additional taxes on residents. In a move aimed at strengthening the state’s social and institutional framework, the Governor also enacted critical laws, including the Delta State Social Investment Programme Law, the Delta State Coalition of Education Law 2025, and the Delta State Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Cultism Amendment Law. Governor Oborevwori praised the Delta State House of Assembly and other stakeholders for their cooperation, stressing that progress requires courage, decisive leadership, and a commitment to inclusive development for all citizens.
