Oborevwori Receives Naval Chief in Asaba, Discusses Security and Asset Protection
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori today received the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, at Government House, Asaba, during a courtesy visit tied to the Naval Chief’s nationwide tour of formations. The visit focused on assessing operational readiness and identifying challenges across naval bases in Delta, a state Vice Admiral Abbas described as central to Nigeria’s oil and gas economy. He underlined the importance of protecting national assets and sustaining cooperation with the State Government. The Naval Chief noted improvements at various bases and observed that calmer waterways have supported increased oil production. Governor Oborevwori congratulated Vice Admiral Abbas on his appointment and reaffirmed that security remains a major priority under the MORE Agenda. He commended the Navy’s role in maritime safety, anti piracy operations, and the protection of strategic assets. He also highlighted strong inter agency collaboration that has helped maintain stability across Delta. The Governor assured that his administration will continue to work closely with the Navy to keep the state secure and to support development efforts.
