Air Peace Chairman Allen Onyema Donates N50 Million to Support DEPOWA College Project, Championing Education, National Unity

In a remarkable display of patriotism and corporate responsibility, Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, has pledged N50 million to support the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) College Project. The generous donation was announced during a grand fundraising and groundbreaking ceremony held at the Armed Forces Officers Mess in Maitama, Abuja, as stated in a press release signed by Ejike Ndiulo, the Head of Corporate Communications. Onyema, who co-launched the initiative, delivered a powerful address emphasizing the significance of unity, empowerment, and nation-building. He described the DEPOWA College as a transformative project, not just in terms of physical infrastructure, but as a beacon of hope and a strategic investment in the future of Nigeria’s children, particularly those from military and police families. “This is not just about bricks and mortar,” Onyema stated. “It is about shaping the minds of young Nigerians who will become leaders, innovators, and agents of positive change. As we lay the first stone of the DEPOWA College, we must understand that we are building a brighter tomorrow—one that empowers our youth to create solutions, inspire others, and contribute meaningfully to our nation and the world.” Onyema praised the longstanding contributions of DEPOWA in supporting service members’ families through education, skills development, and humanitarian programs. He highlighted that the college will feature modern classrooms, vocational centers, science labs, and creative workshops, preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century. He also called on other Nigerians to join in supporting the project, noting that every contribution, no matter how small, would help build a lasting legacy. “No matter how little, every contribution counts. This project is a legacy we are all building together,” he urged. “We at Air Peace are fully aware of the immense sacrifices made daily by the men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces. This is our way of giving back to the families of these national heroes,” Onyema said Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, President of DEPOWA, expressed profound gratitude for Onyema’s donation, calling it both timely and deeply symbolic. “Dr. Onyema has again shown that true patriotism lies in action. His support is a shining example of what corporate responsibility should look like in Nigeria,” she said. Beyond financial support, Air Peace has consistently supported the armed forces and vulnerable groups. For over a year, the airline has operated a streamlined boarding process prioritizing military personnel, individuals with special needs, and Business Class passengers—a gesture reinforcing the company’s respect and support for Nigeria’s armed forces. In his closing remarks, Dr. Onyema delivered an inspiring call to action: “Let this project remind us that we all have a role to play in building Nigeria. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can turn this dream into a lasting reality.”
